Clerical Fortune Tellers Alluring the Faithful

Sixty years ago the Second Vatican Council set in motion what we might call a New Order of false security. While the clergy today break rules, regulations, and commandments they go about crying ‘peace and security’ and promising salvation to all in spite of sin. What the Psalmist said in the Bible certainly applies: “There is no fear of God before their eyes.” (Psalm 13:3)

The spiritual advice given by some of today’s priests is something we would expect to hear from a psychic fortune teller. Palm readers flatter their clients by promising them success, romance, health, and promotion in their work and then they put their hand out and say, “pay me.” Ringing people’s ears for self-gain is what they’re all about.

But the same can be said for many of today’s clergy, some of whom consult these witches. They’ll engage in all sorts of antics from the pulpit to elicit applause, and then say things like, “God is all loving and merciful and will never punish you for your sins but accepts you just as you are and blesses your present way of life.” This sort of talk rings the ears of those who refuse to face their sins so that in a sigh of relief they go out and spread this flatterous poison to their church friends. This in turn contributes to the spiritual pollution and downfall of the Church.

In the Mass, today’s priests say things like “God has no need of our praise” and “does not desire sacrifice and oblation.” The devil uses this sort of talk to turn the people against their baptismal calling to “do penance” and offer sacrifice to God. Like palm readers, the clergy tempt the people with what they want to hear instead of acting as true shepherds to deliver them from the present-day quagmire of temptation and error.

Sorcery Practiced in the Name of God

What is worse is that we have priests who preside over “Charismatic” prayer meetings where they entice unstable souls to run after strange gods and spirits that our forefathers knew not. They seduce them with fake promises of empowerment and spirit-filled joy when in fact the Charismatic Movement has no connection with the Holy Spirit. It can best be described as sorcery practiced in the name of God. They call upon the Spirit but what they are calling down are demons as they roll on the floor and foam at the mouth (slain in spirit), while the priests promise them unconditional forgiveness.

It calls to mind St. Peter’s words concerning the false prophets of the latter times who would “converse in error: Promising them liberty, whereas they themselves are the slaves of corruption.” (2 Peter 2:19)

While we don’t advocate running from the battle and abandoning Our Lord in his tabernacle, it is certainly encouraged that the faithful flee from false pastors lest heresy enter their ears and take them off the narrow road to the Kingdom. As one holy priest once said from the pulpit: “Dearly beloved, you don’t have to go to Hell for anyone.”
