St. Malachy's Prophecy Concerning the Last Two Popes

The prophecies of St. Malachy (1094-1148) appear to be unfolding in our time. In a series of 112 mysterious Latin phrases, the Irish saint prophesied the last 112 popes.

It was in 1139 while in Rome that Archbishop Malachy received a strange vision about the Church’s future that included a figurative name for every pope from that time until the end of time. He predicted there would be one more pope after Benedict XVI, and that the end of the world would occur during his reign.

Clearly, this prophecy did not refer to Pope Francis since the end of time did not occur in his reign, nor was he the last pope. According to St. Malachy, 1 a glorious pope would eventually succeed Pope Benedict who would restore all things.

The following is the last of St. Malachy’s prophecies concerning the popes.

"In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations, after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people.

The End.”

Peter the Roman is the last of the true popes. From this prophecy we can infer that Benedict XVI was the last pope before the final tribulations. The seven-hilled city is Rome, which will be severely punished for its having scattered the flock and polluted the Church with heresy and abominations.

Premol of the 5th century was given this end-day prophecy about the last true pope:

“God will raise a holy Pope (Peter the Roman), and the Angels will rejoice. Enlightened by God, this man will rebuild almost the whole world through his holiness. He will lead everyone to the true Faith.” (Yves Dupont, Catholic Prophecy, 1973)

As for St. Malachy’s prophecy concerning the 111th pope, Benedict, it says of him, "Gloria Olivae," which means "the glory of the olive." The Order of St. Benedict is also known as the Olivetans, for which reason many understand that Malachy's prophecies are correct.

Garabandal Prophecy Matches St. Malachy’s

St. Malachy’s prophecy about Benedict being the last pope before the tribulations matches the prophecies of Garabandal. Upon the death of Pope John XXIII in 1963, Conchita Gonzales, the principal seer of Garabandal was told by the Blessed Virgin that there remained three popes before “the end of times.”

“After this pope, there are only three left. Then it will be the end of times.”

Initially, Conchita said three popes remained but on her own she then clarified that there were four popes remaining but that the reign of one would be so short it would scarcely count as a papacy.

We now understand this to be Pope John Paul I whose reign lasted but 33 days. The fulfillment of this prophecy gives much credibility to the whole prophecy, which seemingly was God’s way of encouraging Catholics to believe the prophecy.

So, the four remaining popes after John XXIII would be Paul VI, John Paul I, John Paul II, and

Benedict XVI, after which we would see the final, all-out attack on the Church.

Sister Mary of the Nativity of the 18th century prophesied:

“Many precursors, false prophets, and members of infernal secret societies, worshippers of Satan, shall impugn the most sacred dogmas and doctrines of our holy religion, shall persecute the faithful, shall commit abominable actions; but the real and extreme abomination and desolation shall more fully be accomplished during the reign of Antichrist.”

The abominations mentioned here all occurred during the reign of Francis, but Sr. Mary appears to be saying that we are in for even worse abominations with an antichrist pope that follows. He would be in competition with Peter the Roman.

All Prophecy is Conditional

However, all prophecy is conditional. If enough people throughout the world are truly allegiant to the newly elected Leo XIV, the antichrist pope of history will not be pegged against the present pope. but if the Catholic faithful simply sit back and watch the show we could very well see the emergence of the antipope.

In the 15th century, Venerable Bernard de Bustis had this to say:

“Near the time of the Antichrist, will come... a most violent conflict with the Roman Church such that there will be great tribulations. At this time, a schism will be produced in the bosom of the Church on the occasion of the election of the pope... there is one who will be called the true pope, but he will not be truly so. He will persecute the true pope and all those who obey him, so that the majority will declare themselves for the antipope rather than for the true pope.”

What this tells us is that there would be two popes reigning at that time, one who is genuine and one who is fake, a scenario that was foreshadowed by the true and false pope that reigned from 2013 to New Year’s Eve 2022. Or, was Venerable Bernard de Bustis referring to that scenario?

Let us pray that Leo XIV will refute Modernism and restore the Church to its former position of honor as it stood through the centuries.

1. In the meantime, an antipope could capture the Chair of Peter. Radical left cardinals are now saying that the Church must continue the legacy of Francis when the next pope is elected.
