Changing the Bible was Part of the Modernist Plan to Change the Catholic Church

In the Bible we are warned that changing but one word of Holy Scripture is a grave offense. In the Book of Proverbs, it says, “Every word of God is fire tried [pure]…. Add not anything to his words, lest thou be reproved, and found a liar.” (Proverbs 30: 5,6)
In the last chapter of St. John’s Apocalypse, Christ likewise tells us, “If any man shall add to these things [words], God shall add unto him the plagues written in this book. 1 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life.” (Apoc. 22: 18,19)
This is a divine warning to not tamper with the books of the Bible. Any changes made in the Bible incur the divine wrath because they adulterate God’s word, yet modern translators nonetheless have changed the Bible in an attempt to change the Catholic Church because they find its divine teaching repugnant to their spiritual palate.
While there remains a handful of good English translations of the Catholic Bible, the Douay Rheims version is by far the most accurate since it was taken directly from the Latin Vulgate, which is the one official Bible of all Christendom. Versions not taken from the Vulgate contain multiple errors. The New American Bible (NABRE) is one such Bible and is the one used by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). This “bible” defies God’s word and is an affront to the souls of men.
In the modern bibles since Vatican II, the words “penance,” “charity,” “soul” and “hell” have been deleted. Even the word “fasting” has been dropped in some verses to suggest that penance is no longer needed in the spiritual life.
For instance, when the Apostles were perplexed as to why they could not cast a demon out of a young man, Christ told them, “This kind is not cast out but by prayer and fasting.” (St. Mark 9:28) In the New American Bible this verse reads, “This kind can only come out through prayer.” There is no mention of fasting.
In Psalm 22 it says,
“The Lord rules me: and I shall want nothing… He has brought me up, on the water of refreshment.” (Psalms 22: 1,2)
Compare now to the same Psalm in the New American bible.
“The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I lack… to still waters he leads me.” (Psalms 23: 1,2)
“Still waters” would normally indicate stagnant water whereas “water of refreshment” signifies spiritual refreshment and joy. Not only is the text of this verse changed but translators have erroneously cited it as being Psalm 23 instead of Psalm 22.
New Bible Attack on the Annunciation
Twisting the words of Scripture distorts and changes their meaning. For instance, in St. Luke 1:28, the Archangel Gabriel appeared to Mary and said, “Hail full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.” The New American bible simply says, “Hail favored one! The Lord is with you.”
The new bible not only deletes “full of grace” but deletes “blessed art thou among women.” It also eliminates the archaic terms “thee” and “thou” that God had providentially arranged to render more respect to the text. This mutilation of the sacred text is an utter disgrace. “Full of grace” references the Virgin Mary’s Immaculate Conception through which she was full of grace – a fullness that came to glorious heights with the incarnation of Christ in her womb. No other woman has ever been full of grace because no other woman was ever conceived immaculate.
Saying “hail favored one” implies that Mary was simply favored over other women whom God could have chosen to birth his Divine Son, when in fact there were no other choices because Mary alone was preordained from all eternity to channel the Messiah into the world. St. Bernardine of Sienna says of Mary, “Thou wast preordained in the mind of God, before all creatures, that thou might beget God Himself as man.”
Genesis 3:15
The New American Bible misquotes God speaking to the serpent in Genesis, by saying, “I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your offspring and hers; HE will strike at your head, while you strike at His heel.”
The true text from the Latin Vulgate reads:
“I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.” (Genesis 3:15)
In a general way, this verse references the Blessed Virgin’s Immaculate Conception and the great power she would exert over the devil, but more specifically it refers to that time in the latter days when Mary would lift up her heel in a final, dramatic move to obliterate the forces of evil from our world. The devil has done everything in his power to erase this truth from our minds. We truly see Satan’s fingerprints all over the revised text.
This same devil was behind the change in St. Matthew where it says of St. Joseph, “And he knew her not till she brought forth her firstborn son.” (Mt. 1:25) The New American version changes the text to read, “He had no relations with her until she bore a son.”
Mary Was Ever Virgin
To say that Joseph didn’t know Mary “until she bore a son” strongly suggests that she bore other children after bearing Jesus. However, the evangelist never said she bore “a son” but said “her firstborn son.”
In the old Hebrew usage, the word "firstborn" was used to indicate "only begotten." That is, the first and only. Also, the word "till" or "until" was used to denote what was done without reference to a future time. For instance, God the Father said to the Son, “Sit on my right hand till I make thy enemies thy footstool.” (Matt. 22: 44) That is, sit on my right hand forever. In Genesis 8:6,7, it says that “Noe, opening the window of the ark which he had made, sent forth a raven: Which went forth, and did not return till the waters were dried up on the earth.” That is, it never returned.
Likewise, Matthew 1:25 says that Joseph “knew Mary not till she brought forth her firstborn son.” That is, he never knew her carnally, before or after Jesus' birth.
The changes in today’s Bible are not hard to find and are without number. In the eighth chapter of the Apocalypse wherein is discussed the twenty-four ancients and the angels, it says in the Douay Bible, “And the smoke of the incense of the prayers of the saints ascended up before God from the hand of the angel.” (Apocalypse 8:4)
Compare now with New American bible.
“The smoke of the incense along with the prayers of the holy ones went up before God from the hand of the angel.” The reference to “the saints” is dumped and replaced with “the holy ones,” which could very well mean the angels or the 24 ancients if the meaning isn’t clarified. Modernist translators deliberately removed the reference to the saints to detract from them and to please the Protestants. This same deletion is found in Matthew 5:8 of the new bible.
In the true Douay Bible, it speaks of the coming of Christ, saying, “Behold my servant shall understand, he shall be exalted, and extolled.” (Isaias 52:13) In the New American bible, it says, “See, my servant shall prosper, he shall be raised high.” To prosper and to understand are two different things. To prosper could mean getting ahead in the world, whereas to understand indicates wisdom.
Isaias 53 is a prophesy of Christ’s Passion, which opens thus: “Who has believed our report?” The new bible says, “Who would believe what we have heard?” In the Douay Bible the prophet speaks in hindsight, saying that no one but a tiny remnant has believed the testimony of Christ, whereas the new bible suggests that no one would ever believe this testimony, as if it lacked credibility.
In St. John 18:6, it says, “Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said to them [the soldiers]: “Whom seek ye? They answered him: Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith to them: I am he…. As soon therefore as he had said to them: I am he; they went backward, and fell to the ground.”
In the new bible it says,
“Whom are you looking for?” They answered him, “Jesus the Nazorean.” He said to them, “I AM.” When he said to them, “I AM,“ they turned away and fell to the ground.”
First of all, Jesus never said “I AM” but said “I am he.” The new bible says, “they turned away and fell to the ground,” signifying that they did this of their own volition, when in fact it was Christ’s words that ‘blew them away’ without their deciding this. The Jews in their envy were so desperate to believe that Christ was a criminal, that when he calmly answered them in his innocence it was too much for them to take. His speaking peaceably with no fear convicted them of their criminality so that it was their pride that threw them to the ground.
In the Gospel of St. John, it says, “Now Caiphas was he who had given the counsel to the Jews: That it was expedient that one man should die for the people.” (John 18:14) The New American bible words it thus: “It was Caiaphas who had counseled the Jews that it was better that one man should die rather than the people.”
This almost suggests that the people were eligible to die for man’s redemption, but it also suggests that it was “better” that Christ die to insinuate that he deserved this, and not the people.
In the Good Friday reading from St. John’s Gospel, Pilate says to Jesus, “Thy own nation, and the chief priests, have delivered thee up to me: what hast thou done? Jesus answered: My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would certainly strive that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now my kingdom is not from hence.” (John 18:36)
In the new bible, Jesus “answers” Pilate thus: “My kingdom does not belong to this world. If my kingdom did belong to this world, my attendants would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not here.”
The final wording negates the existence of Christ’s visible Kingdom on earth. His Kingdom indeed is here. Christ came to earth to establish his Kingdom, the Roman Catholic Church, that it may conquer and convert souls for him. Christ in this verse was simply saying that his Kingdom is not of this world, meaning, it doesn’t think with the world but thinks only with Christ who is not of this world.
In the 18th chapter of St. John, Christ tells Pilate, “Every one that is of the truth, heareth my voice.” (John 18:37) The New American bible twists the text by saying, “Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.”
Anyone can “listen” to the truth but it doesn’t mean they hear it spiritually. The Pharisees, Jews, and pagans all ”listened” to the truth when Christ spoke but they didn’t hear it from the heart because their hearts were hardened with pride. They had ‘ears that hear not.’ To hear the truth means to spiritually embrace, understand, and nourish it in the heart with gratitude. Those who are “of the truth” hear Christ’s voice in this manner.
The truest evidence of faith in Christ is that we keep his commandments and do penance. “If you love me keep my commandments.” (John 14:15) The false prophets of our time promote the breaking of the commandments and then call it “faith.”
For example, they’ll quote out of context Bible verses like the following one from the Apostle Paul.
“By the works of the law no flesh shall be justified before him. For by the law is the knowledge of sin.” (Romans 3:20)
Modernists twist this verse to try to turn Christians against good works. This is senseless since this verse does not refer to the good works of charity commanded by Christ but refers specifically to the ceremonial works of the old Jewish Law where they offered animals in sacrifice and circumcised themselves. St. Paul is simply saying that we are not justified by these dead works of Judaism but by being Christian.
The modern bible misquotes the second part of Romans 3:20 by saying, “For through the law comes consciousness of sin.” The word “consciousness” is used to suggest that we should never have a guilty conscious or be conscious of sin but should believe we are automatically saved by Christ’s Sacrifice. They are forgetting that it is the duty of every Christian to be conscious of sin to enable him to reject and remain away from sin. If St. Paul himself admonishes us to avoid the occasion of sin and to refrain ourselves “from all appearance of evil” (1 Thess. 5:22), how shall we do this if we are not conscious of sin?
When St. Paul told the Jews, “For by the law is the knowledge of sin,” he was saying that the knowledge of the Jewish law would make them fearful of breaking that law, which should not have concerned them since that law was now abrogated by Christ’s death and resurrection. Breaking the law of Christ makes us aware of the sin of offending him, so we should concern ourselves with that law. The awareness of Christ’s law is indispensable for our salvation.
The modernists don’t agree. God through his prophets wrote the Bible and these heretics come along and write their own book.
What is appalling is that there are a number of Protestant groups that avidly discuss and promote the New American bible. And why? Because they had a hand in drafting it just as they had a hand in drafting the 16 documents of Vatican II. What is there that the Catholic Church can to learn from outsiders?
The bottom line: Do not tamper with the Bible, or else.
