The Disgrace of Many of Today’s Convents

LifeSiteNews recently put out a video on liberal nuns dancing the Macarena at a leadership conference on women religious. In the video we see religious sisters dressed like men and whooping it up on the dance floor. This is shameful because it promotes the idea that being a nun is about being worldly and sensual.
It indeed is a betrayal of the religious life. The life of a religious is to make lifelong reparation for the sins of man that are piercing the Hearts of Jesus and His Holy Mother – the sins that these “nuns” are committing. The nuns are supposed to wear the full habit in their waking hours but now they run around in shorts and men’s clothes in a spirit of laughter. Many convents have become breeding grounds for humanist ideology and festivity.
This disgrace didn’t happen overnight but grew out of the Second Vatican Council that called for cultural diversity in the Church. Consider this excerpt from the conciliar document Sacrosanctum Concilium that called for the Church to open its doors to the world.
“In the liturgy, the Church has no wish to impose a rigid uniformity … rather does she respect the genius and talents of the various races and peoples. Anything is these peoples’ way of life which is not indissolubly bound up with superstition and error she studies with sympathy…. Sometimes in fact she admits such things into the liturgy itself” (37).
Text like this indeed opened the door to worldly practice and thought, which are now widespread throughout the Church with the use of vernacular and elements of pop culture, pagan dress, and sex-oriented music as heard in the above video. Since the 70s we have seen worldly corruption invading the convents, which is an offense to Heaven.
Consider this excerpt from the message of Bayside given by Christ to the late seer Veronica of the Cross on October 1, 1988. It opens with a vision given to Veronica, followed by the words of Jesus himself.
Veronica—I'm looking into what appears to be a convent, but—oh, my goodness! This is a convent? There's a room there now off the chapel, and I know they're nuns; but what are they doing? They're dancing. And they're dressed not like nuns, but in leotards! What are they doing?
Jesus—"That is what makes My heart ache, My child. That is one of the reasons [Saint] Theresa is crying constantly when she looks into the convents and sees what is going on. Many now believe in abortion, the murders of the children; and many have committed this act upon themselves.
"You ask, My child, how could this happen to those with a vocation? How can they ever seek an abortion, no matter what the cause? I will tell you, My child: it is because they have given themselves over to immodesty. They have also given up their lives of prayer. They seek the pleasures of the world.”
The nuns indeed have become worldly only because the clergy have become worldly. The major sources of temptation are the world, the flesh, and the devil, and we see so many priests today caught up in this worldly quagmire. Instead of delivering their flock from secular corruption they encourage things like big screen TVs, swimming pools, and perverted kiddie retreats. And then they want to know why we have the sex abuse scandal. It all comes back to the clergy.
Let them consider the words of the Apostle John.
“Love not the world, nor the things which are in the world. If any man love the world, the charity of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, is the concupiscence of the flesh, and the concupiscence of the eyes, and the pride of life, which is not of the Father, but is of the world.” (1 John: 2:15-16)
