The Betrayal of the Jews Advocated by Nostra Aetate

One of the lauded documents of Vatican II is Nostra Aetate, which examines the Church’s relation with other religions. This betrays the truth since the Catholic Church has no relations 1 with other religions. The Church’s position in relation to outsiders is to convert them, but the Church does not unite with other religions, nor must it receive any overtures from them. To do so suggests that Christ can learn from other religions.

Nostra Aetate was penned by one of the great enemies of the Church, namely, the infamous ex-priest Gregory Baum who in the early sixties raped a nun and who from 1964 on lived an active homosexual life until his passing in October 2017. It was in 1964 that Baum penned Nostra Aetate, which was later promulgated in 1965.

The document is heretical. The Church for 2000 years taught that the Jews exist outside of God on the basis that they exist outside of Christ who is God. He who rejects Christ rejects the Father. “He who honors not the Son, honors not the Father, who hath sent him.” (John 5:23) The true Jews of Christ’s time were those that honored him and walked with him into the New Testament.

For 2000 years The Church taught that we must pray for infidels and Jews, which is true charity. Like anyone else, the Jews need conversion to Christ, they're not special.

Nostra Aetate reversed this teaching.

“True, the Jewish authorities and those who followed their lead pressed for the death of Christ; still, what happened in His passion cannot be charged against all the Jews, without distinction, then alive, nor against the Jews of today.”

Let’s be clear: The Pharisees and Jews murdered Christ. This indeed cannot be charged against all Jews since some have converted to Christ, but it most certainly can be charged against the majority of Jews who for the past two thousand years have continued to reject Christ. It is for this reason that Catholics before Vatican II prayed thus for the Jews:

“Let us pray also for the faithless Jews: that almighty God may remove the veil from their hearts; so that they too may acknowledge Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Nostra Aetate strongly suggests that Jews do not need conversion to Christ and Pope Francis rubber-stamped this in a June 2015 document that officially recognized the validity of the Jewish religion. But the fact remains that Judaism does not exist today and cannot exist no more than a seed can exist once it becomes a tree. The seed of Judaism grew into Catholicism so that what remains today is not Judaism but the legacy of the Pharisees who murdered the Christ out of envy.

The 2015 document that grew out of Nostra Aetate says that we should not try to convert Jews.

“The Catholic Church neither conducts nor supports any specific institutional mission work directed towards Jews.”

Is this not a betrayal of the Jewish people? The Jews are called to convert to the Faith and to partake in the Lord’s Supper but the promoters of the document behave like the Nazis who told the Jews to remain in their own prison camp and starve.

Even so, the followers of Nostra Aetate see the rejection of modern-day Judaism as a form of antisemitism, which is ludicrous, since Semitism or anti-Semitism refers to the Semitic race, not to Jewish ideology. We must not reject any race but we must also not unite with spiritual ideologies that are not Catholic.

Christ Came Not to Bring Peace

But some will argue that we must reject division, discrimination, and hatred toward religious minorities. We indeed must reject hatred toward anyone, but we must remain divided from other religions since Christ came not to bring peace and unity with them.

"Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword. For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother-in-law... He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me." (Mt. 10, 34-37)

True Love vs. Self-Love

See here that our peace is with God, not man. We are called to divide ourselves from man and to stand apart from the world. The need to dignify man or to unite with him is grounded in fear, not charity. It's the fear of not being accepted by others that compels people to join the crowd, which is self-love, not love. True love "casts out fear." (1 John 4:18) Joining our persecutors to avoid their persecution is not a form of loving them but of harming them.

The Church in our time is full of such compromises and betrayals, a trend that was set in motion at Vatican II. At the Council, Christ's Spouse threw off her wedding veil and began flirting with other religions (ecumenism) to the end that we see Catholic women of our time equating themselves with their husbands and throwing off their head coverings as they flirt with men and promote divorce. The same are they who promote contraception and abortion, but it all comes back to the poor leadership of today's Catholic hierarchy.

1. The exception being the Jewish religion since the Church grew out of the Jewish religion of old, which Christ abrogated by his Passion and Resurrection.
