On August 25, Pope Leo XIV met with 360 altar servers from France who had made a pilgrimage to Rome with their priests and bishops as part of the Jubilee year.

During his address, Leo lamented the lack of priests in France and said that the ministry of young people at the altar helps lead people into the Sacred Mysteries of Holy Mass.

He thanked the French servers for their service, and said:

“May your attitude, your silence, the dignity of your service, the liturgical beauty, the order and majesty of your gestures, lead the faithful into the sacred greatness of the Mystery.”

Holy Priests Lead us into the Sacred Mysteries

With all due respect for His Holiness, it is the priest who leads the faithful into the Sacred Mysteries since he alone stands between Heaven and earth at Holy Mass. His pious obedience to rubrics is what fosters reverence for the Mystery of Faith, whereas breaking the rules fosters disrespect for this Mystery of Faith.

And while altar servers indeed can enhance our awareness and appreciation of this Sacred Mystery, this only applies if the servers are men or boys, not girls, since the presence of women on the altar serves to nourish rebellious feminist agenda against the priesthood. It indeed detracts from Holy Mass.

Spiritual Child Abuse

Using altar girls can best be described as spiritual child abuse since today’s lesbians are using girls to advance the idea of women priests and deacons. It’s all about empowering women in the Church, which is contrary to Christ. It’s political rubbish. The use of altar girls has no precedent in the Church’s 2000-year history, nor was this initiated or even encouraged by any pope prior to Francis.

Back in 1993, a group of modernists insidiously approached Pope John Paul II and asked him if there was anything in Sacred Cannon Law that specifically forbade the use of altar girls at Mass. The pope very honestly said, “No, there isn’t,” meaning, that such an atrocity is not even a consideration of the Church. As the head of the North American College interjected and said, “There is nothing in Canon Law that says you can’t have monkeys on the altar either.” It was in this light that the Holy Father meant what he said.

The aforementioned clique of modernists already knew that John Paul II was about to undergo surgery in Rome, and it was during his surgery that they blew the whistle and told everyone, ‘Hey, the pope said we can have altar girls.’ It was during this time that altar girls were installed in the Church. The pope knew nothing of this.

When the Holy Father later learned what these scoundrels had done, he was very angry about it, so that the very first thing he did when he returned to his Vatican office was to issue his superlative Ordinatio Sacerdotalis forbidding women’s ordination. It was the strongest statement to date that the pope had issued on this subject. As if to say, “OK guys, you got your altar girls but you’re not going to have women priests. It ends here.”

A Priestly Vocation Often Begins as an Altar Boy

Note that priests usually begin their vocation by ministering as altar boys, after which they enter the seminary, become deacons, and then become priests. Having girls serve as altar girls likewise tends to suggest that this is the beginning of their “priestly” vocation at the altar. Such a suggestion is heretical since a woman cannot serve as the Alter Christus to reenact Christ’s Sacrifice. To suggest that a woman can represent Christ at the altar is to suggest that Christ was a woman. Only a man can be his priestly representative.

So with respect to altar servers, the most pastoral thing Pope Leo can do is to kindly forbid girls from serving at Mass, lest he warp their conception of the Mass and priesthood. A key reason for banning altar girls is because the presence of girls at the altar only sets temptation among the boy servers and thus interferes with their service at the altar.

But again, it fosters the idea of the ‘woman priest,’ which is abominable in God’s eyes. The use of altar girls has been a key political tool of the LGBT coalition wherewith to nourish feminism in the Church, therefore the pope and bishops should halt this lest the girls be scandalized and the Church continue to descend to the depths of apostasy.
