Daniel was one of the Old Testament prophets who was known for his fidelity and his ability to interpret dreams and obscure things. His prophecies generally pertain to the latter days just before Christ’s Second Coming, as indicated by Christ himself when he said, “When therefore you shall see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place: he that readeth let him understand…. For there shall be then great tribulation, such as hath not been from the beginning of the world until now, neither shall be.” (Matthew 24: 15, 21)
This essay concerns chapters 7 and 8 of Daniel, the first of which relays Daniel’s vision of “four great beasts” coming up out of the sea. The inserted explanatory notes are only opinions and are not intended to be proclaimed as fact.
In chapter 7 we read:
"I saw in my vision by night, and behold the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea. And four great beasts, different one from another, came up out of the sea. The first was like a lioness, and had the wings of an eagle: I beheld till her wings were plucked off, and she was lifted up from the earth, and stood upon her feet as a man, and the heart of a man was given to her.
“And behold another beast like a bear stood up on one side: and there were three rows in the mouth thereof, and in the teeth thereof, and thus they said to it: Arise, devour much flesh. After this I beheld, and lo, another like a leopard, and it had upon it four wings as of a fowl, and the beast had four heads, and power was given to it.” Daniel 7: 3-6)
The lioness with the wings of an eagle whose wings are plucked off is the United States. The plucked wings refer to how this proud white eagle would be plucked by her enemies and leave her bare. She nonetheless then would be lifted up from the earth.
The bear on the other side of the world with three rows of teeth wherewith it devours much flesh is Communist Russia.
The leopard with four wings of a fowl to whom strength is given is Communist China. In Chinese culture the leopard symbolizes strength, agility, and mysticism (as in Buddhism), but it also symbolizes cruelty and punishment.
The Political Beast with Ten Horns
Continuing, Daniel is given this vision of a fourth beast.
“After this I beheld in the vision of the night, and lo, a fourth beast, terrible and wonderful, and exceeding strong, it had great iron teeth, eating and breaking in pieces, and treading down the rest with its feet: and it was unlike to the other beasts which I had seen before it, and had ten horns. I considered the horns, and behold another little horn sprung out of the midst of them: and three of the first horns were plucked up at the presence thereof: and behold eyes like the eyes of a man were in this horn, and a mouth speaking great things.” (7-8)
The fourth beast with great iron teeth that treads down the nations is the political Antichrist or “beast” of the Apocalypse comprised of ten nations that advance U.N. global tyranny, and the ten horns represent ten kings representing this globalist conglomerate. The little horn that springs out of the midst of them is the dark knight who represents this political regime whom we call the Antichrist. He will be “a king of a shameless face, and understanding dark sentences.” (Daniel 8: 23)
In chapter 8, Daniel continues with the theme of this latter-day tyranny.
“And I lifted up my eyes, and saw: and behold a ram stood before the water, having two high horns, and one higher than the other, and growing up. Afterward I saw the ram pushing with his horns against the west, and against the north, and against the south: and no beasts could withstand him, nor be delivered out of his hand: and he did according to his own will, and became great.” (Daniel 8: 3-5)
The ram is the Russian czar that was in power before Lenin overtook him and came to power in October 1917.
Continuing, Daniel says:
“And I understood: and behold a he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and he touched not the ground, and the he goat had a notable horn between his eyes. And he went up to the ram that had the horns, which I had seen standing before the gate, and he ran towards him in the force of his strength. And when he was come near the ram, he was enraged against him, and struck the ram: and broke his two horns, and the ram could not withstand him: and when he had cast him down on the ground, he stamped upon him, and none could deliver the ram out of his hand.” (Daniel 8: 5-7)
Further on in the chapter, the Archangel Gabriel explains the vision to Daniel.
“The ram, which thou sawest with horns, is the king of the Medes and Persians. And the he goat, is the king of the Greeks, and the great horn that was between his eyes, the same is the first king. But whereas when that was broken, there arose up four for it: four kings shall rise up of his nation, but not with his strength. And after their reign, when iniquities shall be grown up, there shall arise a king of a shameless face, and understanding dark sentences. And his power shall be strengthened, but not by his own force: and he shall lay all things waste, and shall prosper, and do more than can be believed. And he shall destroy the mighty, and the people of the saints, According to his will, and craft shall be successful in his hand: and his heart shall be puffed up, and in the abundance of all things he shall kill many.” (Daniel 8: 20-25)
The ram is Russia, the kingdom of the Medes, that grew out of the Persian Empire. The “he goat” with the notable horn between its eyes is Carl Marx, the father of world Communism. Gabriel describes the he goat as the “king of the Greeks,” not in the literal sense but in a metaphorical one. The kingdom of the Greeks is a world system, not a geographical entity. Throughout history the Greeks have always been known as the thinkers or philosophers, and it was the he goat [Marx] who founded the world system of Communism. This world system came from the West [Germany] and “touched not the ground,” indicating that he soared with great speed in his plan to overtake the ram.
The notable horn between the he goat’s eyes is Vladimir Lenin who spearheaded the cause of Marx at ground level. This notable horn is “the first king” insofar that he is the new king of the Medes and Persians [Russia], not the ram that he defeated. The “king of a shameless face” who understands “dark sentences” is the one who we call the Antichrist who heads the cause of one-world control.
Earlier in the chapter Daniel describes the he goat.
“And the he goat became exceeding great: and when he was grown, the great horn was broken, and there came up four horns under it towards the four winds of heaven. And out of one of them came forth a little horn.” (Daniel 8:8-9)
The he goat [Lenin] is followed by four kings of great power, which we might see as Stalin, Khruschev, Gorbachev, and Yeltsin, after which emerges the little horn who is the Antichrist king who subdues the West and the Church. This could very possibly be Putin who is certainly a man of “dark sentences.” He was at work subverting the Church for decades long before he became Russia’s “president.” He joined the KGB in 1975 and later assisted Gorbachev and Yeltsin.
Daniel continues.
“And it [the little horn] became great against the south, and against the east, and against the strength [the Church, Christ’s visible Kingdom]. And it was magnified even unto the strength of heaven: and it threw down of the strength, and of the stars, and trod upon them.
“And it was magnified even to the prince of the strength: and it took away from him the continual sacrifice, and cast down the place of his sanctuary. And strength was given him against the continual sacrifice, because of sins: and truth shall be cast down on the ground, and he shall do and shall prosper.” (Daniel 9-12)
That is, Antichrist threw down the Catholic Church [the strength] and the stars [the bishops], and was magnified even unto the prince of the strength [the pope] and he took away from him the continual sacrifice [old Mass] and profaned his sanctuary as we have seen since Vatican II. The modern-day sins of the Church are what have given Antichrist this strength “against the continual sacrifice.”
The sins of the modern church indeed have fed the devil’s power, but we know that the gates of hell will not fully prevail against the Church (Mt. 16: 18,19) because of that remnant of tradition-minded Catholics that will have assisted Christ in restoring his Church to its former glory.
The 1917 Bolshevik Revolt Targeted the Church
We know of course that the Bolshevik Revolution was an uprising against the Russian czar (who was Catholic), but when all is said and done, the 1917 Revolution was an uprising against western moral authority having its foundation in the Roman Catholic Church. Note that the Bolshevik revolt was waged in St. Petersburg, Russia, bearing the name of first pope, Peter. The revolt initiated a plan to send the errors of Russia not only into western society but into the Church.
The influence of Communism today is thoroughly entrenched in the Church fulfilling the prophecy of the Virgin of Fatima that if Russia wasn’t converted through its Consecration to Her Immaculate Heart the errors of Russia would spread throughout the world and into the Church. The Church indeed has been profaned in our time as evidenced by its adherence Protestant doctrine and its use of ‘Eucharistic ministers’ and the widespread practice of receiving Communion in the hand. The ugly hand of Communism has truly reached in to desecrate the Body of Christ.
