The Amazon Synod - A Wellspring of Heresy
October 4th began like any other day for me. After morning Mass, I went to work and went about my day. As any typical day, I logged on to a social media site during my lunch break….and was absolutely dumbfounded by what I saw. Pope Francis, along with several prelates, were sitting and witnessing a pagan ceremony, complete with two nude female idols placed in the center of a blanket, with people dancing around it, and then prostrating themselves before the idols in the center of a blanket. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Idol worship, which is a direct violation of the first and second commandments, was playing out before my eyes in the Vatican garden. Neither the Pope, nor any of the other prelates present at this abomination, was doing anything to stop it. I never thought I would see this in my lifetime.
I had heard that the Amazon Synod was going to be scandalous, but I didn’t know just how far things would go. I witnessed this same idol, (who some claimed to be the Virgin Mary) being processed into St. Peter’s, as well as being left at the altar at Santa Maria in Traspontina. As if this wasn’t bad enough, a poster was placed in this same church, showing a nude woman breastfeeding a child and some sort of animal. I felt shock and anger, wondering why the Holy Father was doing nothing to stop this. On the contrary, he is giving his permission for all of this to transpire.
As if this wasn’t enough, an interview he had given the journalist Scalfari a few years ago, in which he was purported to say that Jesus Christ gave up his divinity when he became man, was made public. I had hoped that he would immediately deny this with the strongest language possible and reaffirm Christ’s divinity. However, no such thing happened. The Vatican released a statement that was such a weak denial, that many people have called it a non-denial denial (if that makes any sense).
All of this is being done under the pretense of dialogue with the indigenous peoples of the Amazon. We are now constantly hearing how we must listen and learn from the wisdom of Amazonian people. Instead of following Christ’s command, to “Go therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost,” we are instead being told that this is imposing Western European culture on the indigenous peoples. In my opinion, this is a direct insult to all of the missionaries that have given their lives over the centuries to bring the Word of God to the people of South America.
Instead of reiterating the importance to share to Gospel and bring all people to Christ, the main concern of this Synod seems to be on climate change, and rabid ecumenism. We are hearing that all religions are equal which, again, is in direct opposition to Christ’s teachings. All of this, and we are not even finished with this heretical synod yet.
A few brave men of the Church have stepped forward to reaffirm the teachings of the One, True Catholic Faith. Bishop Schneider and Cardinal Burke have asked us to fast and pray at least one decade of the rosary daily through the end of the Synod, which will be October 27th. Cardinal Muller issued a wonderful statement reaffirming what Catholics believe, and a couple of talented filmmakers have created a 20 minute video which uses some beautiful imagery to bring Cardinal Muller’s words to life. I firmly believe that all of the faithful should heed the words of St. Catherine of Siena: “Cry out with a thousand tongues. I see the world is rotten because of silence.” If the beginning of this synod is any indication of what is to come, things will only get worse. Pray the rosary every day, fast, and stay close to Our Lord and the Blessed Virgin. As dark as things may be, we have been promised that her Immaculate Heart will triumph.
